AIS (Automatic Identification System) Class B is increasingly becoming the most popular tool for navigation and safety on board pleasure crafts and smaller commercial vessels. The CTRX Graphene units are the very latest AIS Class B transponders from True Heading. The CTRX Graphene units are available in two versions: one with a built-in VHF antenna splitter, the CTRX Graphene+, and one w/o a built-in VHF antenna splitter, the CTRX Graphene (“Graphene” w/o the “plus”-sign at the end).

Both are developed and manufactured in Sweden and both have to receive and transmitting capabilities. The CTRX Graphene units will send and receive ALL AIS information according to Recommendation ITU-R M.1371-4 for AIS Class A and AIS Class B.

An AIS AtoN is an AIS transceiver designed specifically for installation on marine Aids to Navigation (buoys, lighthouses etc.). An AtoN is defined by IALA1 as ‘a device or system external to vessels that is designed and operated to enhance the safe and efficient navigation of vessels and/or vessel traffic’.

KEY FEATURES:

* An AIS AtoN transmits the position of an Aid to Navigation.

* It can be interfaced to a wide range of sensors such as metrological and hydrological devices, as well as with the lantern and other equipment located at the point of installation.

* Data collected from these instruments feeds directly into the AtoN where it is automatically compiled into an AIS format and transmitted by the AtoN for the benefit of mariners and authorities.

* An AIS AtoN can be interfaced to a lamp either for simple reporting of the lamp status or for a more advanced status and configuration of the lamp (e.g. changing flash codes).

* An AIS AtoN requires a power source. The power source is typically a solar charged battery system, designed to provide sufficient power to the AtoN and all other equipment on the platform, under all weather conditions and seasonal sunlight variation.

The AIS Carbon Identifier is the latest Class B AIS transponder.
In the same way as for a ”regular” Class B AIS, it must be programmed with information about the ship: MMSI number, Call sign, name of the ship/boat, vessel type and its mounting location on board.
The Carbon Identifier is suitable in applications where you would like to be seen but do not need to see other ships/boats/vessels.

The Carbon Identifier is running on battery and comes with a desktop charger and a mounting bracket.
When the Carbon identifier is fully charged the battery will last approx. 4-5 days (depending on the outside temperature and the preprogrammed update rate).
The Carbon Identifier has a built in VHF and GPS antenna which makes the unit very easy to use and ”install” on the boat. Just charge the unit, program it and then dock in it the bracket that is fitted on your boat and you are good to go.
